Dr. Coffman specializes in Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS). Individuals with this normal trait may identify as Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP’s), energetically-sensitive, empaths, big-hearted, intuitives, healers, different, and/or gifted. Sensitives are a favored target for exploitation by those who lack empathy for others.
In addition to increasing awareness, understanding, and self-compassion about our hard-wired ways of being in the world, learning to maintain healthy boundaries and optimum levels of interaction, practicing ways to avoid overwhelm and sensory overload, learning skills for faster recovery; tapping into our heart energy, and finding our tribe helps us to thrive, instead of just to survive.
Dr. Coffman can help with anxiety, panic, depression, trauma and complex PTSD, recovery from toxic relationships, spiritual issues, and struggles with life transitions, grief and loss, and health issues related to chronic stress. Dr. Coffman's approach to therapy is that empathy is the healing ingredient. Focus is on strengths and mind-body-spirit integration.
Dr. Coffman has expertise with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Biofeedback. She identifies as an HSP and has well-developed medical intuition, informed by decades of working as a registered nurse and extensive training in psychophysiology.
Her clinical practice focuses on adult individuals.
